Easter in the Algarve
It is almost Easter! Are you lucky to have booked your Easter holidays in the Algarve, the South of Portugal? Cool! We’ll share some tips on the best activities for April in the Algarve. Most activities and things to do in the Algarve depend on the weather. The good news is that temperatures have been ranging between 10 and 18ºC. Today was a sunny day, but you never know what to expect for tomorrow. We recommend you to be prepared for both rain and sun. Bring some outfits for a sunny spring weather but also for rainy days. As April in the Algarve can be a mix of both.
Boot trips Algarve
If the ocean is not too rough, it is worth to consider a boat trip in the Algarve. Every harbour in the Algarve have companies to organize this, like dolphin safaris, sailing trips and trips to the caves. The choice is yours.

Easter Markets Algarve
This weekend are various Easter Feiras where local produce will be presented, like the typical Easter cake, called: Folar. Next to local food and drinks, lots of handicrafts, music and folk dances.
A popular Easter market is in Sao Marcus da Serra, if you want to experience the real Algarve, I highly recommend to attend this Easter market in the Algarve (just above SB de Messines).
Easter Flower Festival
Sao Bras de Alportel
The Festa das Tochas Floridas – Flower Torches Festival, is a traditional annual event to celebrate Easter in São Brás de Alportel in April in the Algarve.
The Festival takes place on Easter Sunday and is a colourful spectacle. The streets of the town are carpeted with fresh flowers, and local residents decorate their balconies and windows with flowers too, to add to the show.
The Festival opens at 9.30am. You need to get there early to see the show of flowers along the streets. At 11am the Resurrection Procession begins – men carry beautifully crafted “torches” of flowers along a route that ends at the town’s main church.
There are also traditional Easter sweets for sale. Be sure to sample the typical sweet almonds from São Brás!

Alcoutim Walking Festival
Themed walks in Alcoutim and on the Spanish bank of the Guadiana River
The walks focus on the beauty of nature in the Algarve and include bird watching, boat trips, astronomical observation and product tasting.
The guided walks have different levels of difficulty and take place in the various parishes of the municipality of Alcoutim and on the Spanish bank of the Guadiana River. So put on your walking boots, and enjoy a hike in the Algarve in April!
