I can’t believe it is already November! After a really hot October, we finally had a bit of rain, the clock has changed, so a bit of winter feeling coming up! Soon the wood burner can start doing his job! Yes November in the Algarve.
But writing this in my office, with doors open, the sun coming in, I realize how lucky we are living in the Algarve, and although November in the Algarve is low season, it is a great time to visit the Algarve! Why, well I just gave you 1 reason, the sun is still shining, and it is warm enough to spend your days outside. If you like walking, the temperatures are ideal for hiking, same for bicycling! Plus flights are cheap, as well as villa rental prices! So pretty nice November in the Algarve.
Algarve Housing like to share a few things to do in November in the Algarve:
Feira de Sao Martinho-Portimao
2pm- mid night.
Dating back to 1662 when a guy called Martinho shared his cape with a beggar in a snowstorm, the Sao Martinho Fair is Portimaos oldest event. Traditionally a fair to taste the new wine and celebrate the chestnut harvest. Nowadays, all sort of foods, plastic toys and rides have taken over the fairground. But you still see everywhere these days locals selling roasted chestnuts, and they are yammie!!!
18 and 19 November
Rotary Christmas Market
Parchal/Ferragudo- centro Congresso do Arade
Time: 11am – 5pm
This popular indoor annual Christmas Market is being held at the Arade Pavilion (Centro de Congressos do Arade) in Parchal on the 18th & 19th November.
Goods for sale will include work by local artisans and artists, gourmet foods, handmade gifts, clothing and antiques. There’s a great meeting area too, where you can catch up with friends and grab a coffee, glass of wine or a beer and a wide selection of snacks.
The market will help raise funds for the Food Bank’s Farm Programme.
This is always an excellent event with quality Christmas gifts, wrapping paper, cards and much more….
The Centro de Congressos do Arade is located on the main road into Ferragudo and there is plenty of free parking.
Festival do Batata Doce
Sweet potatoes festival, very popular in this region! Next a variety of sweet potatoes dishes, you also find other local produce such as sausages, herbs and liquors.
Giselle, Russian Classical Ballet
Lagoa, Municipal Auditorium
The acclaimed and prestigious Russian classical ballet company of Moscow will perform a stunning interpretation of classical ballet Giselle this November.
Giselle is one of the most important masterpieces of the classical ballet of the romantic era, arousing interest in the high degree of drama and technical demand of the leading dancer in the performance of the character, based on the original choreography by Jean Coralli and Jules perrot, later adapted by Marius Petipa.
This classical production is exceptional. A show for the whole family to enjoy.
Price: 28€ each
