Marrion is the friendly face you’ll meet when you arrive at one of our houses.
With great love for hospitality, Marrion always dreamed to become an airline hostess so she could travel the world. In 1999 she came to Portugal, which she calls home, since then. I invited her for a coffee, on a sunny terrace (and day) — and we had a wonderful conversation about the art of making someone feel at home, away from home.

The best of the Mediterranean comes to Loulé in the Algarve every summer for a music, dance and arts extravaganza. Festival Med welcomes renowned world music stars from Morocco, Spain, Italy, Greece and Portugal for this cultural concoction.
This is a fantastic event, especially for tourists seeking versatility in what the Algarve lifestyle can offer. Additionally to great music, expect to see plenty of other forms of art including hand-crafts, dance performances and street theatre. For 5 days, the historic surroundings of Loulé will tempt you with scents from traditional cuisine from each of the countries taking part in the event.
The MED festival, organized by Loulé Municipal Council, plays host this year to some well renowned music figures, including the Orquestra Buena Vista Social Club ®, La Notte della Tarranta feat. Stewart Copeland and Horace Andy & Dub Asante.
Music, or more specifically World Music, forms the basis of the festival and, after six editions of the event, definitely takes pride of place at the MED. Apart from the two main stages, there will be a further three secondary stages where promising artists will be performing.
To further entice you with this annual event, Festival Med has also been nominated into the category ‘Best Cultural Events’ at the Gala of Events 2009. Decked out with its’ multicoloured decorations, Loulé opens welcoming arms, inviting you to this 5 day festival for you to enjoy during your stay within the Algarve… expect it to be one of the events of the summer!!
Gather your family and friends and experience the Portuguese May Day tradition.
The first of May is May Day, an international celebration of workers’ solidarity and has always been a festival of fun, right from its early beginnings and, despite isolated outbreaks of violence during political May Day rallies around the world, in modern times, it continues to be celebrated as a day to enjoy the open air, and a day to air opinions.
For the Portuguese it is a day to enjoy a good picnic, on the beach, in the forest, by a river, and sometimes just at the roadside. It is the one day of the year that normally unused roadside picnic spots fill with families and friends to enjoy simple food and wine, and cheer at the day long parades of fire engines, ambulances and police vehicles that animate the roads of every county. April in Portugal marks the change from winter to spring, bringing warmer weather and blue skies, and May Day is the perfect opportunity to get out and enjoy the first picnic of the year.
If you live here, or on holiday in the Algarve, we give you some popular places to go.
Most popular are the Fontes that can be found near Estombar (Lagoa), Alte and Benamola (Loule) and Caldas deMonchique. The rivers are very popular too, like the Arada and the Guardiana (river between Portugal and Spain) and the Baragems (dam lakes) which there are many, both large and small, throughout the Algarve.
So Pack your picnic and enjoy May Day in the Algarve!

Algarve Weather – We are often asked “What´s the weather like in The Algarve in November”
So, we shot a very short video last weekend to show you:
As I write this, it´s 19 degrees C outside, that´s 66F, and there´s not a cloud in the sky. Again.
Of course it rains sometimes and we get cloudy days too but on the other hand we have had 10 straight days of clear skies and glorious sunhine.
We were photographing a villa, here in Algarve, yesterday and here is one of the photos from that shoot, this really shows what the sky is like at this time of year, (no photoshop here), far better than video can show.
If you would like to know more about Algarve weather at this time of year or more about this luxury Algarve villa then please contact me, Michele [at] algarvehousing.net or call me on ++351 963 717 094

These may not be the best pictures of all time but they do give an impression of what the garden looks like when the lights are on at night.
If you would like to see what this pool and gardens look like in daylight then check out this gallery.
And if you fancy a nose around inside too then take a look at this gallery
So, if you like the look of this fantastic house and fancy an Algarve villa holiday this summer then check out the full details of Casa Vilarinha, but you had best hurry as this villa is filling up fast.

This lovely house sleeps up to 6 guests in 3 bedrooms and has a private swimming pool and many terraces.
We are pleased to announce that we are sole agents for Casa Gastronomica, a lovely restoration situated in the heart of the Algarve, between Loule and Benafim.
The Real Algarve that is, not the high rise, man made Algarve that you find all along the coast.
Once you open the door in the wall you enter a world of coloured terraces, quiet corners, planted borders and other places where you can relax and unwind. The house has a walled courtyard and gardens, containing a lovely variety of trees, shrubs and smaller flowers, along with a small pond and together this all creates a sence of calm and privacy.
If you enter the house from the main doors you enter the kitchen which is situated between the large sitting room and the dining room, all of which have high ceilings and are open plan. The island in the kitchen houses the sink and drainer and behind that you will find an electric hob, oven and grill.
There is also a fridge / freezer, a dishwasher and a washing machine. All the usual utensils required for preparing, cooking and eating are on hand.
The dining room has a large wooden dining table and room for everyone.
The lounge has a large sofa and an area with TV, Sky TV, Music TV and Ipod speakers, it also has a woodburning stove.
Once through the sitting room area you come to the bedrooms, first you will find a twin room and a seperate bathroom, next along the hallway is a double with ensuite shower room, lastly you will find the master bedroom, and this has an ensuite shower-room and direct access to the walled courtyard outside the french doors.
Poolside you will find areas of sun and shade with seating, loungers and umbrellas. There are two covered terraces, the blue and the red and there is also a roof terrace, ideal for drying your bikini, etc.
What we like about this house is the large amount of lovely details everywhere you look and that it´s location lends itself to exploring both the natural inland areas of the Algarve and you are within 30 minutes to some of the nicest beaches of the Algarve, like Quarteira, Vilamoura and Vale de Lobo. Loule is only a 20 minutes drive away, and here you can find everything you need, plus it is a very lively town with lots of entertainment in the Summer, like various music festivals etc…
The bad news is that this house is not even available for holiday rentals until the begining of April, but, the good news is that you can book it right now and you can look forward to a sunny holiday throughout this winter.
